Neurons
The nervous system is composed of specific cells, the neurons. Those cells communicate through electrochemical signals. From the Soma, the cell body, the cells develop dendrites composed of an extension, the axon, along which an electrical signal is delivered, the action potential. At the end of the axon, the synapse is the zone between two neurons where information is exchanged thanks to neurotransmitter molecules.

Alzheimer's is a neurodegenerative disease. It progressively destroys neurons. Alzheimer's protein may include amyloid beta and tau protein that are targeted by drug antibodies. No treatment is currently available to treat the disease, although some drugs have been developed to decrease the symptoms.
