The moloney murine leukia virus belongs to the gamma retroviruses family. It is a spherical but pleomorphic virus, with a diameter near of 100nm M-MLV is causing leukemia among murine mammalians. The gammaretroviral envelope glycoproteins are used to mimic lentiviral vectors in as delivery vehicles for genes.
The M-MLV recombinant protein is a partial fragment of Gag-Pol polyprotein, which plays a role in budding of new viruses. This polyprotein is processed by a viral protease during the maturation of the virion outside the cell. It recruits ubiquitin ligases to conjugate ubiquitin molecules to Gag-Pol polyprotein or onto the host factors. These links facilitates the release of the virus.
Proteogenix offers a partial fragment, expressed in a prokaryotic cell system, especially used in functional studies.
