CD19 is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of B cells. It is composed of two extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains and a short cytoplasmic tail.
CD19 plays an important role in the development and function of B cells by mediating signal transduction and cell adhesion. It also interacts with other immune checkpoint proteins to regulate B cell survival, differentiation and activation.
CD19 is an attractive target for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) due to its broad expression on B cells. It has been used in clinical trials for the treatment of B cell malignancies such as leukemia and lymphoma.
