General Information about Heme sensor protein HssS(hssS)

Members of the two-component HssS / HssR regulatory system participate in the regulation of intracellular blood homeostasis and severity of Staphylococcus aureus. HssS acts as a histidine kinase for blood induction, is autophosphorylated in histidine residues and transfers its phosphate group to the aspartate residue of HssR. HssR / HssS activates the expression of HrtAB (a sewage pump) in response to extracellular hemoglobin, heme, hemoglobin, or blood (for similarity).
