General information on SARS-CoV-2 RBD of Spike protein–BA.2 lineage B.1.1.529.2 – Omicron Variant

Lineage B.1.1.529.2 was reported to WHO in January 2022 and had a rapid breakthrough in the Denmark and India. This variant of SARS-CoV-2 is derived from the OMicron lineage B.1.529.2 and bears a high number of mutations on the spike protein, and especially receptor binding domain (RBD).
The reported mutations on the Spike protein are the following : Q19E, del 25/27, G142D, T191, V213G, G339D, S373P, S375F, T376A, D405N, R408S, K417N, N440K, S477N, T478K, E484A, Q493R, Q498R, N501Y, Y505H, D614G, H655Y, N679K, P681H, N764K, D796Y, Q954H, N969K
